It’s a magical time each spring, when Reston feels like a fairytale, with cherry blossoms and magnolia trees bursting into bloom all over town. We all wish the blooms would stick around longer, but while they last, they make the perfect backdrop for spring photos.

One local favorite is the Van Gogh Bridge at Lake Anne. Every year, families, couples, and proud parents gather there for posed photos framed by soft pink blossoms and that classic curved bridge. It’s a go-to for good reason. It looks like something out of a painting.

For more candid, playful photos, the path near the intersection of Longwood Grove Dr and Wiehle Avenue is lined on both sides with flowering trees, creating a tunnel of petals. It’s the kind of place where you can catch kids trying to grab the blossoms as they flutter to the ground.

Just a short drive away in Vienna, Meadowlark Botanical Gardens has beautiful flowering trees right near the parking lot. Pack a picnic to enjoy under the blooms, then head inside to wander through the gardens. The children’s garden is the perfect place for an afternoon of slow play, make-believe, and a quiet moment watching the fish in the pond.

Wherever you go, don’t forget your camera, or your phone! These blossoms don’t last long, but the photos will bring spring back to life all year.
