The Reston Museum will present a dynamic program showcasing the talented students of the South Lakes High School STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Team. This free event will take place at South Lakes High School at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14. The STEAM Team exemplifies how education and creativity can shape public spaces while highlighting the dedication and brilliance of our local youth.
At this program, attendees will meet the remarkable students behind the annual public art installation on the Lake Thoreau spillway—an inspiring project that has become a cherished tradition in the Reston community. Each year, these students volunteer their time to design and construct a work of art for all to enjoy. Their creative journey mirrors that of professional artists, involving extensive planning, problem-solving, and collaboration. During the event, they will share insights into their artistic process, the challenges they’ve faced, and the valuable real-world experience they’ve gained along the way.
To attend and be inspired by the next generation of artists, engineers, and innovators, please register at restonmuseum.org.
