Co-working, virtual meetings, meet-ups, and remote work have altered the nature of office space for everyone. As we transition to the summer months, those commuting or juggling at-home work with children home from school may need to be creative about office space when they need a new setting without the din of a full house.

Flip the script from your local Starbucks and consider the one-year-old VIDA Fitness as an unconventional option for a workspace. Open Monday thru Friday 5 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. the community accessible member lounge is the perfect space to grab a seat and open your laptop, pull out your journal, or meet up with a colleague for a strategy session. The member lounge is accessible to the public; no need to have a membership to the fitness club. There is a variety of seating available from more casual couches and end tables, to comfy swivel chairs and coffee tables. Traditional table and chair pairings allow for group collaboration or provide ample space for an individual with a laptop and documents that need a bit more real estate. Much like local coffee shops there is free wifi and ample outlets for computer, tablet, or phone charging. Conversations on the phone and in person are not competing with loud music, but there is audible music which provides a degree of discretion for calls and in-person collaboration.
For those arriving by car, you can park directly under the building on Reston Row. Be sure to hold onto your parking ticket for up to three hours of validation in the garage. If you bike there are bike racks and a secure bike locker at the metro station across the street. If you have a larger work event, you and your company can even consider hosting a meeting in one of VIDA’s private conference rooms that are available to rent.

On a sunny afternoon the light from the floor to ceiling windows brightens up the room, and can overall provide a nice change. The buzz of quiet activity in the lounge and the convenience of a full-service bar offers you the opportunity to stay both hydrated and caffeinated with options ranging from coffee, espresso, tea, to electrolyte drinks, to custom smoothies. You can indulge in a celebratory glass of wine and nibbles as the work day winds down as well.
VIDA Fitness is across the street from the Wiehle-Reston East metro station, which is a lovely rendezvous spot for anyone, with its plaza and restaurants with outdoor dining, giant screen, Friday concerts, and music mysteriously emanating from under shrubbery.
This summer, consider trying a new place to work from, and get to know a new and growing spot in Reston at Reston Row.
VIDA Fitness is located at 1800 Reston Row Plaza
