Willow the bunny lives free-range in the Reston home of Reston Community Center painting teacher Tracie Griffith Tso and her husband.

Like all rabbits, Willow is vegan. Her diet resembles that of a horse, but on a much smaller scale. She enjoys hay, hay-based cereal, leafy greens, and the occasional piece of fruit. Blueberries are a particular favorite.

Willow is crepuscular, meaning she’s most active at dawn and dusk. She’s soft, quiet, litter box-trained, and carries the pleasant scent of hay.

When she’s not napping, Willow is often grooming herself, a task that keeps her beautiful coat in top condition. Tracie assists by brushing her fur and trimming her toenails. One of Willow’s favorite pastimes is patrolling the backyard: nibbling plants, hiding under bushes, and practicing evasive maneuvers. She enjoys putting on a show for anyone watching.

Rabbits may not be as eager to please as dogs or as aloof and manipulative as cats, but they do form strong bonds and show affection to their people. They’re creatures of habit, and once a routine is established, they’re quick to reinforce it in their own subtle ways.
