On Oct. 9, Reston Town Center Association (RTCA) and BXP announced a new, free concert at Reston Town Center (RTC) following the success of its weekly summer concert series. Rocktoberfest, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 11, will be headlined by international recording sensation Smash Mouth, best known for six Top-20 hits including “I’m a Believer,” "Walkin' on the Sun," and "All-Star."
The show will begin at 5 p.m. with beloved Washington, D.C. cover band keeton, followed by national rock band Ace Munroe at 6:45 p.m. and Smash Mouth’s headlining performance at 8:30 p.m. All three bands will be making their debuts at Reston Town Center.
“What better way to kick off Rocktoberfest than with an iconic, chart-busting band like Smash Mouth,” said Robert Goudie, RTCA Executive Director. “Our summer concerts are recognized throughout the region for their distinctive offerings, and we see Rocktoberfest as a way of extending that terrific concert experience into the fall with three incredible bands at one venue.”
The event is Sip & Stroll, which allows concertgoers to purchase a beverage of their choice from any of the nine participating RTC restaurants. Patrons may not bring their own alcohol. Sip & Stroll will start at 4:30 p.m.
“We are proud to sponsor the first annual Rocktoberfest at Reston Town Center,” said Alex Young, BXP’s Vice President of Marketing for the DC Region. “This event will energize the community with fresh, nationally recognized entertainment, building on the beloved tradition of free concerts in the Pavilion. Rocktoberfest is a perfect example of the unique cultural programming that makes Reston Town Center so dynamic, and we’re excited to celebrate with the community.”
Rocktoberfest will kick off the week before with a special 25th Anniversary screening of Shrek in the Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m., presented in partnership with the Washington West Film Festival.
Roctoberfest is also supported by the Hyatt Regency Reston, the Artist Accommodations Sponsor, and Makers Union, the Artist Hospitality Sponsor. RTCA and BXP partner with Party DC to secure concert performers. The event will be held rain or shine, barring severe weather or storms. Day-of weather cancellations will be posted on the RTCA website, or visitors can call 703-435-6600, x2.
