Reston Museum and Reston Community Center announced that Celebrate Reston!, formerly known as Founder’s Day, will take place Saturday, April 5, 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Lake Anne Plaza. Celebrate Reston!, now in its 21st year, brings the community together to celebrate Reston and honor its founder, Robert E. Simon.

“Celebrate Reston! is a very special day for our community to gather together to share our common love of Reston and especially to honor our founder, Bob Simon,” says Lisa Watts, the museum’s Executive Director. “We are excited that our guest speaker this year is award-winning poet and author, Kwame Alexander. Kwame is known to many in our region where he started his career.”

Alexander will be joined by other authors from around the region who will be available to talk with attendees and sell their works. This highly-anticipated annual event also will feature fun family activities, live entertainment, local vendors as well as a special cake-cutting ceremony in celebration of Bob Simon’s birthday.

Celebrate Reston! welcomes additional authors and vendors to participate in this inspiring community event by reserving space on Lake Anne Plaza, and/or by reserving a space for an independent author talk.
